For the first time in two years, I played a round of golf this weekend! Actually I played two, so now I'm averaging once per year. Now that I have 36 behind me, I think it's safe to say that I've now realized what I've been missing. Two beautiful afternoons with some great people burning a few calories(and probably ingesting a few more).
I think when I was younger, I got frustrated too easily and didn't really pause to analyze the problems, to figure out why I had a bad shot. I'd just keep getting angrier and hitting the ball harder and making WORSE shots. These two times, I tried to be a bit more objective - step back, look at what you just did, think about why it didn't work, and think about that before you take your next swing. Not surprisingly, that strategy seemed to pay off later in the games as I began to correct my problems.
All in all, I'd say the second of the two was one of the best games I've ever played. Not bad for 2 years of rust!
Two beautiful courses too - Piper's Glen in Saugeen Shores, and Sauble Dunes just a few clicks east of the beach. What's your favourite course around here? And what do you do to try to keep your golf game on the rails? Let me know in the comments section!
