Finally procured a blender-like device for my slowly-becoming-better-stocked kitchen. I decided to celebrate by making my own tomato sauce!
The recipe comes from my friend Julia who writes a lovely food blog here: http://culinarycurator.tumblr.com/post/32047992316/roastedcamparitomatosauce
"Campari" tomatoes are, to the best of my knowledge, the "on-the-vine" tomatoes you find in a grocery store (they come in little boxes, not the generic vine tomatoes they also have there). Get these ones if you want the sweetness that this particular recipe describes.
Then you just roast for 40 minutes with some white onion, garlic, olive oil, and bam BLENDER! It was great on spaghetti with roasted veggies, but in retrospect it would probably be really good on pizza!! Future idea.
Have you ever made tomato sauce before? What are your favourite keys to a good one?
