Local Conservative Candidates Give Final Speeches

Owen Sound | by Bayshore News Staff

Conservative party members will vote for the nominee on April 22nd

Hundreds of people packed into the auditorium at East Ridge Community School to hear speeches from the 5 local candidates for the conservative parties 2019 campaign.

The evening began with all 5 candidates meeting and chatting with members of the community.

Afterwards each of them gave a 7 minute speech outlining where they stand on various issues and solidifying their commitment to conservative voters.

Current serving MP Larry Miller also made an appearance. Miller has previously stated that we won't be personally endorsing any candidates but speaking to him after the speeches he seemed happy by the potential of all 5. "They are all great, I'm happy to see conservatism so strong in the area." Miller said.

The race for a new candidate began after Miller announced his retirement this upcoming October. Miller has served as MP in the Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound riding for 15 years

The 5 Conservative Candidates are:

 - Alex Ruff

 - Chad Richards

 - Paul Vickers

 - Ken Brown

 - Rick Byers

Voting will take place on April 22nd using a ranked ballot system, with the winner announced that night.
