Two People Charged After Teen Hits Woman in Downtown Owen Sound

Police say the 16 year old driver had alcohol in his system when a pedestrian stepped into his path.

Owen Sound Police have charged a 16-year-old male and a 28-year-old woman after a vehicle collision in Owen Sound. 

Police say the accident occurred along 2nd Ave East in Owen Sound around 2:30 am on Sunday when the 28-year-old woman walked into the path of a vehicle heading north.  

Grey County Paramedics and Owen Sound Police attended the scene and the woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to police the 16-year-old male driver did not blow over the legal limit but was found to have alcohol in his system. 

He was charged with having a BAC above zero under 22 years of age, as well as underage drinking.

The woman has been charged with failure to use the crosswalk.

Owen Sound police are reminding the community that anyone under the age of 22 cannot legally have any alcohol in their system well driving.
