There hasn't been much said about it lately, but the planned Skateboard Park is coming along and should be open next summer.
At the regular South Bruce Peninsula council meeting recently, Mayor Janice Jackson says the skateboard committee has been busy fundraising.
To date they have just over $100,000 of their $150,000 goal.
Mayor Jackson says, "We have full confidence that they're going to reach that goal so we're going ahead with the construction."
She says some groundwork is being done this Fall with completion slated for next Spring.
The $150,000 facility should be open by July, 2018.
Jackson says a lot of people and groups are stepping up to the plate to help with donations or in-kind pledges, providing labour and product.
The park will be built at Bluewater Park in the gravel portion of the parking lot next to the swimming pool.
According to a staff report presented to council, "Council pledged $15,000 towards the capital cost of installing the skateboard park. Funds will not be advanced until the project completion is to acceptable municipal standards."
