Tippin To Face Jones at Olympic Trials

Woodstock Curling Club rink 1-1 through first two matches

Owen Sound's Julie Tippin is 1-1 entering Day 3 at the 2017 Roar of the Rings Canadian Olympic Curling Trials in Ottawa.

Tippin's Woodstock Curling Club rink won their tournament opener 7-3 over Alberta's Val Sweeting Sunday morning.

Tippin scored three in the eighth end to surge ahead 6-3, adding one more in the ninth.

Then in the afternoon draw, Tippin's rink came up just short against three-time Scotties champion Rachel Homan.

Homan led 7-3 after five ends and Tippin scored singles in four straight ends to tie it 7-7 -- before Homan got one in the 10th to win 8-7.

Just one match for Tippin today -- she's up against defending Olympic gold medalist --- WInnipeg's Jennifer Jones at 7 p.m.

Jones comes in at 3-0 -- topping the standings thus far.
