The Owen Sound Farmers Market is extending its hours and splitting Saturdays into a food market and then a vendor market.
A media release from the market says colder weather will mean a transition back to an indoor market.
Vendors Association President Laura Buckler says in order to observe COVID protocols, they can only have 22 indoor spots, while the market normally has more than 35 vendors.
Starting this Saturday, November 14th, food vendors will be at the market between 8 and 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
The market will close at 11:30, and re-open at 1p.m. for a Christmas Craft Market from until 4 p.m.
That will take place every Saturday afternoon until December 19th.
Market co-manager Morag Budgeon says many Christmas Craft shows in the region have been cancelled this year, Budgeon says, “This change will allow us to create a Christmas Craft Market that will run for six Saturdays, giving everyone a chance to support local craftspeople when they do their seasonal shopping.”
Vendors sell jewellery, pottery, candles, candy, textiles, books, stained glass, and other items.
A new, controlled entrance to the indoor market will be at the north end of the market pavilion.
Vendors and visitors will be required to wear masks and observe physical distancing rules when inside the
market.
Meanwhile, the online shop continues to operate for those who prefer pre-order and stop by the market to pick up their purchases.
The curbside pickup door will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accommodate customers unable to pick up in the morning.
