A family friendly outdoor movie event will be hitting Owen Sound’s River District over the next few weeks.
The city plans to screen a film every Thursday through the end of August outside of the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market, located near the Sydenham River at 8th Street and 1st Avenue East.
The site will open at 7:30 p.m. for each movie night. The film itself will begin playing after sunset. The screening is free to attend.
Tomorrow, Aug. 12, Raya and the Lost Dragon will be the feature.
On Aug. 19, the film will be The Secret Life of Pets 2. Inside Out will be the movie playing on Aug. 26.
City officials advise each outdoor movie night will also be accompanied by other activities for children to enjoy.
Tomorrow, kids will receive free ice cream upon arrival. Cardboard boxes will also be available to decorate as a movie seat. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative boxes.
On Aug. 19, there will be a free slice of pizza. Kids will also be invited to wear their favourite pair of pajamas.
The final outdoor movie night on Aug. 26 will include some free snacks. Children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite superhero.
