As part of Saugeen Shores’ ongoing Master Transportation review into primarily speed limits and parking in the municipality, Director of Infrastructure and Development Amanda Froese reported to council recently that there has been a request for electric vehicle parking and charging stations.
Froese says the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre has requested two near their facility on Victoria Street in Southampton and in turn, Froese is proposing the request be accepted.
Deputy Mayor Don Matheson supports the museum’s request but states other locations should be considered as well.
He points out the Wal-Mart shopping plaza; the liquor store plaza and a couple in the parking lot of the Plex, all in Port Elgin.
The parking bylaw is being developed and residents have until Friday, September 3rd to offer comments.
Saugeen Shores Committee of the Whole has already approved that a bylaw be developed for passage.
