The Harmony Centre Owen Sound is celebrating its 10 year anniversary by hosting a series of events.
The centre says these Ten for Ten events, will start with a pay-what-you-can concert, featuring harmonica player Carlos del Junco and the Blues Mongrels on Nov. 5.
Del Junco will also give a demonstration as well as teach harmonica techniques in a workshop the next day, with tickets available through the centre’s website.
The other events taking place throughout the year include a Charlie Brown Christmas in December, Earth Day featuring a presentation from community youth and led by the Georgian Bluffs Climate Action Team, and in June, the festival trio is making its return with modern chamber music.
The centre says since opening in 2012, its has provided space for a variety of groups, including meetings, rehearsals, and special events.
The Centre says the fully accessible lower hall, kitchen, and washrooms have all been renovated and are ready to host new events.
It adds with the money from fundraising events, donations from the community, as well as government and private grants, over $1 million worth of improvements will be made by the end of the year.
Founding Director Leigh Greaves says, “it is time to celebrate Harmony Centre’s success and look to the future.”
