A Georgian Bluffs man faces charges after allegedly fleeing a collision between his tractor and a vehicle in Owen Sound yesterday.
Owen Sound Police say the man was clearing out snow with his tractor just after 11 a.m. Thursday morning in the area of 18th Avenue East, when he hit a Honda civic car and caused significant damage to it.
No one was hurt.
Police say the tractor driver quickly left the area, and a witness saw it drive through several red lights in an attempt to get away.
Owen Sound Police officers eventually caught up to the man on 7th Avenue East.
“Police soon discovered that the driver had had his driver’s licence previously suspended for an impaired driving charge,” Owen Sound Police say in a release. “He had recently obtained his licence back with the condition that an interlock device be (installed) on any motor vehicle that he is to operate. The (tractor) was not equipped with an interlock device pursuant to his conditions.”
City Police say the 43-year-old Georgian Bluffs man was charged with operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, as well as several Highway Traffic Act offences related to the collision.
