The South Grey Bruce Youth Literacy Council is holding a fundraising event in May, featuring an Indigenous author.
Program Coordinator Steven Morel says Waubgeshig Rice will be at the event on May 24 at the Hanover Civic Theatre for a reading, book signing and Q&A for his book Moon of the Turning Leaves, the second in a series after writing Moon of the Crusted Snow.
“I brought him to Durham way back when with his first book and then I asked him if he wanted to come back for a fundraiser for the youth literacy council with the second book,” says Morel. “We are also hoping to do a discussion and Q&A with high school students in Owen Sound the day before on the 23.”
Morel says Rice’s publisher, Penguin Random House, has also donated almost 50 books for the council to sell for the fundraiser.
