Roxy Theatre is expected to come alive with the holiday concert Spirit of the Season.
The show is being performed by Maggie’s Wake, a Canadian folk group with Celtic flair.
Fiddler Lindsay Schindler says that they’re excited to share their music with the Owen Sound crowd.
“We just love sharing music and connecting with the audiences and doing it in new regions is really special.”
Schindler, who hails from Dorchester, previously lived in Owen Sound but has never performed in the city, making it all the more special for her.
The band will also be sharing the stage with the children’s choirs from East Ridge and Beaver Valley Community Schools.
The afternoon concert is expected to be a high-energy blend of jigs and reels, classic country, and twin fiddles as the band plays both original music and Christmas classics.
“Music is all about connection and to develop relationships with people in the community, so that’s really what we’re looking forward to.”
While Schindler plays fiddle and sings backup vocals, her bandmates also have proclivities for multiple instruments.
Lead vocalist Tara Dunphy plays tin whistle, flute, fiddle, guitar, and banjo.
They’re joined by percussionist Stephan Szczesniak, bassist Andrew Kosty, guitarist Kenneth Palmer, and Dean Harrison on piano and accordion.
