Northern Bruce Peninsula will be looking at expanding its Short-term Accommodation (STA) Licensing Program this week.
Council will consider expanding the program to include an additional 2,975 eligible properties.
This follows after council directed Committee and Licensing Coordinator Lindsay Forbes to report back to council on the potential expansion of the program during a meeting on Nov. 27, when council received an update as to how the program had been running in 2023.
A report from Forbes says people have been asking about a possible expansion of the program into rural zones since its initial implementation in January, 2022.
There are currently 45 licenced STAs in rural and commercial zones in the municipality as part of the program.
In March, council implemented a 700 STA licence cap in the municipality, and there are currently 368 valid properties in the program.
If council approves this expansion, it would increase the total number of eligible properties to 6,323.
Council will consider this expansion at its meeting on Dec. 11 at 1 p.m.
